LG Electronics has announced a record-breaking financial performance for the second quarter, largely due to strong demand in its home appliances, vehicle components, and HVAC systems sectors. The tech giant achieved a preliminary operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, approximately $1.04 billion, marking a significant 146.9% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, the company’s revenue saw a 14.9% rise, reaching 23.83 trillion won, which exceeded market forecasts.
In the first half of the year, LG achieved new company highs with 47.56 trillion won in revenue and 3.25 trillion won in operating profit. This exceptional growth was fueled by increased sales across major business areas, enhanced cost efficiency, and the expansion of subscription services. Growth in LG’s webOS platform and stronger online sales also contributed to the financial success.
The primary drivers of this growth were LG’s home appliance, vehicle solutions, and HVAC segments. The company experienced heightened demand for its premium home appliances and automotive infotainment systems. The HVAC business also benefited from the rising need for cooling solutions, particularly during the recent heatwaves in Europe.
LG further emphasized its commitment to future growth through continued investments in emerging technologies. The company is focusing on innovations such as AI data center cooling technologies and advanced robotics components, indicating its strategic direction towards sustainable and cutting-edge solutions.
