Toyota’s long-term performance strategy took a major step forward with the introduction of the GR GT prototype, scheduled for market arrival around 2027. The model aims to elevate the Gazoo Racing brand to new competitive heights.
The vehicle’s architecture reflects a strong influence from motorsport aerodynamics and structure. Its rear-wheel-drive configuration and low-center-of-gravity platform are intended to deliver precision handling.
Combined with its hybrid system—featuring a newly developed 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine—the GR GT is expected to achieve over 650 horsepower. Toyota targets speeds greater than 320 kph, placing it in the global supercar category.
The brand is positioning the GR GT as a spiritual successor to the 2000GT and Lexus LFA, both of which enjoy iconic status among enthusiasts.
Toyota also revealed the GR GT3 and the electric LFA Concept. These models demonstrate Toyota’s dual approach to future performance: traditional combustion technology and advanced EV development.
